The MCP inside a C100:
The integrated MCP "Master Control Processor" is the heart of your switch. Having the MCP running, you can control the switch locally and over the network. If it does no more boot, you are lost. Its gone.
About 99% of all events, you did upgrade the firmware ( the image of the MCP ) with the wrong Speedview version or you did not strictly follow the instructions. This results in a corrupted bootprogram in the single flash (boot-) chip on board.
Because we did "successfully" kill two MCP´s, we had to find a solution, what to do.
Currently we are checking a flash programmers hardware for ereasing boot-flashs and loading them new.
There should not be the need of sending the board to Nortel with all that antistatic packing and more.
